Two Arrests Following Heathrow Irritant Spray Attack

The assault resulted in the partial shutdown of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the Terminal 3 car park.

An additional two individuals have been arrested related to a robbery at Heathrow Airport in which 21 people were injured by what is thought to be an irritant spray, as stated by police.

A man, 24, was arrested in Lambeth on suspicion of theft and assault and a woman, 23 was detained on suspicion of conspiracy to commit robbery. They both are still being held, the force said.

These detentions come after an investigation into an attack at the multi-storey car park at Terminal 3 on Sunday. Prior to the incident, two women had stolen from them their luggage upon exiting a car park lift.

A three-year-old girl was one of the injured during the incident. Five people were taken to the hospital for medical care and were later discharged.

Officers detained a man in his thirties for suspected robbery and assault near the scene. He has since been released pending further inquiries as the investigation proceeds.

Police were called at about 8:10 in the morning GMT following reports of a number of people injured by a noxious substance believed to be an irritant spray.

The attack - an event that authorities stated was a standalone incident and not being treated as terrorism - resulted in train delays and the temporary shutdown of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the Terminal 3 car park for a short time.
